Father Daughter's Movie Night

Anak-anak les sudah pada pulang. Terus malamnya ngapain aja kita di rumah? 

The kids have gone home after their tutoring was over. So what should we be doing at home at night?

Biasanya ngobrol sambil kongkow habis makan malam.

We used to talk as we are relaxing after dinner.

Atau nonton DVD.

Or watching DVD.

Saya dan papa punya hobi sama; nonton film, jalan-jalan, baca, masak dan makan.

Papa and I have same hobbies; watching movies, traveling, reading, cooking and eating.

Tapi beberapa bulan setelah mama meninggal kami berdua sama-sama kehilangan selera buat nonton. 

Well, few months after mama passed away we both lost the mood to watch any movie.

Tapi karena saya dan papa bosan juga melewatkan malam dengan hanya ngobrol dan karena acara di tv tidak menarik maka kami berdua mulai hunting film DVD buat ditonton di rumah.

However, papa and I eventually got bored spending the night just by chatting to eachother and since there is nothing interesting on tv either made us started hunting DVD movies to be watched at home.

Nonton adalah waktu kebersamaan kami.

Watching movie has become our togetherness moments.

Cemilan

Snack

Nonton kurang afdol kalau ga ada cemilannya. Kadang banyak, kadang sedikit. Tapi tetap harus ada..

Snack is mandatory when watching movie. Sometimes there were a lot of snacks, sometimes there were only few. One thing for sure snack is a must.

What to watch?

Saya dan papa lebih suka nonton film action. Tapi kadang kami nonton drama juga. Asal drama yang bintang filmnya bukan kelas kacangan dan lebih bagus lagi kalau masuk nominasi atau sudah menang penghargaan terkenal seperti Oscar atau Sundance.

Papa and I prefer action movies. But sometimes we watch drama movies too. As long as it is starred by well known actors or actress and it would be better if the movie has won awards such Oscar or Sundance.

Hidup sudah bikin pusing kepala jadi kalau milih film pasti yang enteng-enteng aja deh.  

Life has given headache so pick the movie that don't give us dizzy.

Film kartun enak buat ditonton.

Cartoon movie is fun to watch.

Film bikin kita larut dalam alur ceritanya. 

A movie can make us absorb into its story.

Di situ itulah hebatnya alur cerita dan akting yang bagus.

Ada film yang diangkat dari kisah hidup seseorang. Film begini bisa bikin kita merenungi sisi-sisi kehidupan.

Some movies are inspired by true story. This kind of movie can make us think about sides of life.

Cuma buat hiburan 

It's just for fun

Nonton itu cuma buat hiburan. Jadi kalau film yang tadi ditonton dijadikan bahan perdebatan atau diskusi.. wah, ga deh.

Watching movie is just for fun. So afterward there is a debate or discussion.. well, I pass.

Horror? 

Saya paling kagak doyan deh nonton film horror. Bukan karena takut. Wah, dunia ini penuh dengan manusia-manusia yang lebih buas dan nakutin dari pada sejuta zombie atau monster di film horror mana pun!

I can't stand horror movies. It's not the fear. Man, this world is full with people who are more savage and scarry than millions of zombie or monster in any horror movies.

Saya ga suka sama film horror lebih karena adegan-adegannya suka bikin kaget.

I dislike horror movies because the scenes that make me jump up, you know when the killer or zombie suddenly appeared out of nowhere kind of scene.

Kalau saya sampai nonton film horror, itu karena pemerannya aktor terkenal.

If I watched horror movie, that was because of the famous actor starred on it.

Dari dulu ini genre film yang saya suka karena ada tegang dan drama yang kadang bisa bikin jadi baper.

I love this kind of film genre because there are suspense and mellowing drama.

Kerajaan

The Kingdom

Saya suka sejarah so saya suka nonton film mengenai kerajaan jaman dahulu kala apalagi kalau film itu berdasarkan sejarah.

I like history so I love watching film about ancient kingdom especially when it is based on history.

Tapi ada juga film tentang kerajaan jaman modern yang enak buat ditonton.

But there are movies about modern kingdom which are nice to watch.

Saya punya langganan penjual DVD di BTM (Bogor Trade Mall). Kalau sudah kehabisan film, saya dan papa pergi ke sana hari Minggu sepulang dari kantor.

My favorite DVD vendor is at BTM (Bogor Trade Mall). Papa and I go there on Sunday after work whenever we are run out of movies to watch.

Persamaan antara nonton dan masak adalah kalau masak dari saat sedang membeli bahan-bahannya saja sudah bikin semangat, nah, nonton itu sudah bikin semangat waktu lagi beli DVD dan cemilannya.

The similarities between watching movie and cooking is when it comes to cooking the excitement has already aroused when I buy the ingredients, so the excitement about watching movies begins when we go to buy the DVDs and the snacks.

Nonton film tidak selalu harus terasa asyik kalau nontonnya di bioskop atau kalau punya flat tv. Yang sederhana di rumah pun bisa jadi asyik kalau nontonnya bareng sama orang-orang tersayang.

The fun of watching tv is not only on theater or to watch it on flat tv. Even the modest one at home can be fun as long as it is watched with loved ones.
