Asyik.. sekarang kamu sudah punya blog, template-nya juga sudah jadi.

Ah masa?? Belum punya blog? Wah.. kalau gitu bikin dulu dong, baca deh petunjuknya di postingan saya Let’s Blog! – First Steps.

Terus habis itu baca juga postingan saya, Let’s Work on Blog Template supaya tampilan blog kamu bisa jadi bagus.

After that read my Let’s Work on Blog Template post so your blog can have a nice appearance.

Kalau semua sudah jadi, ok.., sudah siap buat bikin postingan pertama? Nah, kalau sudah login ke Google, bisa otomatis ter-login ke Blogger. Tampilan dilayar akan seperti yang terlihat pada gambar dibawah ini. Klik tombol 'Mulai ngeblog' atau klik tombol 'Blog Baru'.

If everything is done, ok.., ready to work on the first post? So, if you have login to Google, it makes you automatically login to Blogger. The appearance on screen will be like the above. Click the 'Start blogging!' button or 'New Blog' button.

Kemudian muncul template kosong seperti ini;

Eits, tapi sebelum kita mulai, ada beberapa hal yang perlu diketahui;

One sec, before we start this, there are few things you need to know;

Draft.. Draft.. Draft

Apa pun yang mau kita taruh dalam bentuk tercetak, entah itu surat, artikel, blog, brosur dll.. semua harus dibuat draftnya dulu.

Whatever material we will have in printed, whether it is a letter, article, blog, brochure etc.. everything has to be drafted first.

Hah? Ga perlu di draft dulu? Wah, hebat dah lu kalau sekali bikin bisa langsung bagus dan ga ada salah. Beneran, saya akan acungin jempol tangan dan jempol kaki kalau ada yang bisa sekali bikin langsung jadi rapi semua, kagak ada salah sama sekali.

Huh? No need to make draft? Wow, you are really awesome if you could make it all good and without errors. Seriously, I will give my thumbs and toes up to anyone who can make it neat and not one error.

Jadi draft itu penting karena bisa di cek lagi, apa ada salah atau tidak. Draft yang sudah di cek berulang kali pun masih tetap bisa ada salah, coba aja lihat di majalah atau koran, pasti sesekali ada pemberitahuan ralat. Selain itu, isi draft masih bisa kita tambahin atau kurangin. Jadi membuat dan mengecek draft itu bukan buat buang waktu.

So draft is important because it is made for the purpose of checking, is there any errors or not. Even the one that has gone through many checkings may still contain error, see how sometimes magazine or newspaper put correction notification. Besides, draft allows us to add or delete stuff on it. So making and checking draft are not wasting time.

Dulu saya suka bikin draft yang ditulis tangan tapi isinya cuma garis besar dari apa yang mau saya tulis dan kemudian setelah di rumah baru saya bikin draftnya. Tapi cara begini akhirnya saya anggap kurang praktis. Jadi garis besarnya melayang-layang di otak dan malamnya baru saya jadikan draft. Kalau lagi di rumah, saya ketik di notebook saya atau kalau lagi sama Andre, saya pinjam laptopnya.

I used to make handwritten draft, not really a draft, just made the outline of what I would write and later at home I worked on the draft. But then I thought it was impractical. So the outline is made in my head and in the evening I turn it into writing. When I am at home I type it on my notebook or when I am with Andre, I borrow his laptop.

Kapan saya ngedraft? Kalau sudah ada di rumah, mulainya bervariasi, kadang jam 7 malam, kadang baru mulai jam 9 malam dan kelarnya bisa lewat tengah malam. Makin malam, idenya mengalir lebih banyak dan lebih gampang keluar. Kadang saya bisa kuat melek sampai jam tiga pagi dan bisa bikin dua sampai tiga draft tapi ya itu cuma bisa saya lakukan kalau besoknya saya libur.

When do I make my draft? When I am at home, sometimes I start it at around 7 pm, sometimes at 9 pm and it is done after midnight. Late into night the ideas floating out more and easier. Sometimes I can stay up until 3 am and can make two to three drafts but of course I only do this if tomorrow is my day off.

Language

Jarang ada blog yang memakai dua bahasa. Saya malah belum pernah nemu tuh..

It is rare to find bilingual blog. Infact, I have never found one..

Enam tahun lalu saya memutuskan untuk menulis setiap postingan dalam dua bahasa karena internet membawa blog berkeliling dunia. Biar pun isi blog bagus tapi kalau pembacanya kagak ngerti bahasanya.., rugi kan.

Six years ago I decided to write every post in two languages because internet takes our blog around the globe. So eventhough the contain is good but the reader don’t understand the language.., what good does it make?

Apa saya memakai Google translator? Ya, kadang-kadang aja kalau saya sudah mentok atau cuma buat ngecek apa terjemahan versi saya sudah benar. Yoi, jadi sebagian besar versi Inggris di blog ini murni hasil kerja otak saya.

Do I use Google translator? Yes, sometimes when I am stuck or just to check if my version of translating is correct. Yep, most of the English in this blog is purely the work of my brain.

Selain itu saya juga memakainya sebagai cara untuk melatih bahasa Inggris saya. Biar pun saya guru bahasa Inggris tapi kalau saya tidak banyak latihan, kemampuan saya bicara, mendengar dan menulis dalam bahasa itu bisa tidak berkembang, belum lagi perbendaharaan kata yang bisa hilang.

Apart from that I also use it as a way to practice on my English. Though I am an English teacher but if I don’t practice, my speaking, hearing and writing skills will not develop, not to mention I am losing my vocabulary.

Ya, saya punya banyak teman orang asing tapi kan tidak setiap hari saya ketemu atau chatting sama mereka. Enaknya sih kalau ada Andre karena dia kan ngoceh pake bahasa Inggris jadi sikon maksa saya untuk mendengar dan merespon dalam bahasa yang sama. Kalau sering ketemu dia dan lama ada dengan dia, bahasa Inggris saya keluar tanpa saya pikir lagi, lancar. Itu namanya latihan tanpa direncanakan dan tanpa disengaja.

Yes, I have many foreign friends but I don't meet or chat with them everyday. It is nice if Andre is around because he talks in English so it forces me to listen and repond in same language. If I meet him regularly and spend a lot of time with him, my English came out without me thinking of grammar, it goes spontaneously. That's what called unplanned and unintentionally practice.

Tanpa mereka, blog adalah tempat saya melatih kemampuan bahasa Inggris saya.

Without them, blog is my place to practice my English.

Be You

Kalau sudah sampai ke tahap mau bikin postingan pertama, itu artinya kamu sudah tahu blog kamu isinya apa, topiknya tentang apa, mau mengkhususkan diri pada satu topik atau model gado-gado kayak blog saya, gaya penulisannya resmi atau cuek bebek ala pergaulan sehari-hari.

If you have reached to the stage of making your first post, it means you have known the material you are going to put in your blog, knew about the topic, is it going to be in one specific field or mix of so many stuff like my blog, is it going to be in formal writing style or is it gonna be the kind we used in daily conversation.

Yang pasti, jadilah dirimu sendiri. Boleh-boleh aja lirik kiri, lirik kanan tapi jangan jadi copy paste dari diri orang lain.

One thing for sure, be yourself. It is okay to look around but don’t become other people’s copy paste.

Blog adalah media untuk menampilkan diri, ide, kreativitas dan keberadaan kita. Bukan untuk bikin orang jadi terkagum-kagum pada kita, bukan untuk pamer, bukan untuk mencari hormat, bukan untuk menunjukkan superioritas kita.

Blog is a media to express one self, idea, creativity and existence. It is not to impress people, not to show off, not to find respect, not to show our superiority.

Setiap hari kita dipaksa untuk menjadi seperti yang orang lain inginkan. Di sekolah kita diharapkan untuk menjadi murid seperti yang diinginkan guru, di rumah kita harus menjadi anak yang sesuai dengan harapan orang tua, di kantor kita harus mengikuti kemauan atasan.. dan tidak seorang pun dari mereka yang pernah berpikir atau bertanya apa keinginan, harapan dan kemauan mereka untuk kita itu tepat atau tidak, benar atau tidak, cocok atau tidak, adil atau tidak, bijaksana atau tidak.

Everyday we are forced to be the person according to other people’s wishes. In school we are expected to be the kind of student the teacher wishes, at home we must become the child our parents wished us to be, at work we have to follow whatever our boss wants.. and none of them ever think or ask if their wishes, expectations and will for us are suitable or unsuitable, right or wrong, fair or unfair, wise or unwise.

Kalau kita menuruti mereka, ya itu membahagiakan dan memuaskan mereka serta memberikan keuntungan bagi kita tapi kita akan kehilangan diri kita sendiri. Well, dalam batas-batas tertentu saya tidak mau mengikuti keinginan orang lain dan untuk itu orang men-cap saya keras kepala, pemberontak, pembuat onar bahkan lebih parah lagi sampai menganggap saya orang tersesat, murtad.. yah, ada masanya dimana anggapan itu meresahkan saya tapi belakangan ini saya tidak lagi peduli.

If we give in to them, yes it makes them happy and content, it benefits us but we will lose ourself. Well, up to some point I don’t want to follow other people’s wishes and for that people labelled me stubborn, rebellious, trouble maker, worse they even built this image of me as a lost soul, somebody who has gone wrong.. there were times when it bothered me but lately I don’t give a damn.

Copy paste your draft to blog template..

Paste it to the blog template

Font..

Ukuran huruf tidak mengikuti yang asli yang ada di draft. Jadi kalau di draft ukurannya 14, begitu di copas ke blog jadinya ukuran 10. Karena itu harus diatur manual.

Sorot kata/kalimat/paragraf yang ukuran hurufnya mau dirubah.
Highlight the word/sentence/paragraph that you want to change the font size

Klik tombol dengan huruf Tt, terus pilih deh ukuran huruf sesuai selera
Click that Tt button, after that choose the font size

Font size doesn’t go with the original size on the draft. If it is 14 on the draft, it turns into 10 when we copy it to blog. It has to be manually rearranged.

Warna huruf juga bisa dirubah.

Sorot kata/kalimat/paragraf yangwarna hurufnya mau dirubah. Lalu klik tombol huruf A itu & pilih warnanya
Highlight the word/sentence/paragraph that you want to change the font color. Click that A button & choose the color

 Font color can also be changed.

Ukuran dan warna judul bisa dirubah tapi harus ke customize template. Nanti dalam postingan berikutnya akan saya tunjukkan bagaimana caranya.

The size and color of title can be changed but you have to go to costumize template. I will show you how to do that in my next post.

Photos and pictures..

Foto dan gambar, harus di upload. Tidak bisa di copas dari draft ke blog.

Photos and pictures have to be uploaded. Won’t do by copy paste from draft to blog.

Pilih dulu lokasi yang mau ditaruh gambar/foto. Kasih ruang. Lantas klik tombol diatas itu (insert mage)
Choose the place where the image/photo will be placed. Give some room. Click the insert image button 

Ambil gambar/fotonya dari file di komputer atau di USB, klik gambar/foto yang mau di upload, klik Open
Take the image from computer file or from USB, click the image, click Open button

Lagi upload. Tunggu beberapa detik
Uploading. It takes about few seconds

Klik gambarnya (muncul frame biru itu) trus klik tombol Add selected
Click the image (blue frame will wrap the image) & then click Add selected button

Mau rubah ukuran gambar/foto? Sorot dulu gambar/fotonya, nanti keluar deretan pilihan dibawah itu. Tinggal pilih ukuran deh

Want to change the image size? Highlight the image, the box of option will appear. Choose the size

Jadi deh / Voila

Kalau foto dan gambar bukan asli milik kamu, harus dicantumkan asalnya dari website atau blog mana soalnya ada yang bebas dan ada yang pake copy right.

If the photos and pictures are not originally yours, you have to write the website or blog address because there are the free ones and there are subjected to copy right.

Videos..

Mau masukin video musik atau film? Gampang. Nih, saya tunjukin caranya.

kalau videonya dari youtube, buka dulu www.youtube.com. Cari videonya (itu saya contohin)

If it's youtube video, go to www.youtube.com and find the video you want to upload

pilih videonya dengan cara klik judulnya seperti contoh diatas
choose the video by clicking the title as shown above

sorot link dari video itu & copy
highlight the video link & copy it

balik ke template tadi, pilih tempat yang mau diselipin video, kasih ruang, klik tombol di atas itu
go back to blog template, choose the place where you want to insert the video, give some room, click the insert a video button

paste link video yang tadi di copy dari youtube, tekan tombol search
paste the youtube video link, click search button

kalau muncul seperti ini, klik video itu sampai muncul frame biru, lalu klik tombol Select
when this appears, click the video until a blue frame appears, after that click Select button

ok, videonya sudah masuk

Buka dulu website atau blog yang mau kamu masukin alamat linknya ke blog kamu.

Klik tombol di atas itu
Click the above button

Muncul kotak ini
This box will appear

Paste alamat link yang tadi di copy ke box Web address
Paste the copied link to Web address box

Muncul deh alamat linknya. Mau dihapus; click alamat link itu, akan muncul kotak biru dibawahnya, pilih remove

Tampilan / Preview
Mau lihat gimana tampilannya sebelum postingan ini resmi di posting, caranya di kanan atas ada berderet 4 tombol; Publikasikan, Simpan, Pratinjau, Tutup. Klik tombol Pratinjau.

Want to see how it looks like before this post is published. See the upper right side, there are 4 buttons;  Publish, Save, Preview, Close. Click Preview.

Publikasikan / Publish
Kalau semua sudah ok, tinggal diposting deh. Tekan tombol Publikasikan.

When it's done, publish it. Click the Publish button.
