Let’s Polish Your Blog

Keren dah, kamu sudah punya blog, template sudah, masukin postingan pertama juga sudah.

Awesome.. now you have your own blog, have the template done, have the first post published too.

Kalau gitu sekarang kita poles lagi itu blog biar tambah keren.

Ok now let’s polish it a little bit to make it more awesome.

Sudah login ke Blogger? Atau kalau belum, mungkin pas lagi buka akun Google? Nah, tinggal buka laman baru dan klik icon Blogger atau ketik www.blogger.com, kalau mau lebih cepat lagi cuma ketik blogger trus tekan tombol control (Ctrl), tahan (tombol controlnya jangan dilepas) dan tekan tombol Enter, hasilnya nanti langsung muncul tulisan www.blogger.com.

Are you login to Blogger? Or if you haven’t, you’re already login to your Google account, if so, open a new tab and click Blogger icon or type www.blogger.com, there’s a faster way by just type blogger and press control (Ctrl) button, hold it and press Enter, www.blogger.com will be open. 

Beberapa detik kemudian yang muncul di layar seperti gambar di bawah ini;

Di postingan Let’s Make The First Post saya tulis langkah demi langkah untuk membuat postingan pertama setelah berhasil punya akun di Blogger dan setelah bikin template. Tapi tidak apa-apa deh saya ulangi lagi di postingan ini cuma tidak serinci seperti di Let’s Make The First Post.

In Let’s Make The First Post I wrote the step by step direction to make a post after signing up in Blogger and after have set the template. Well, I am showing you again how to make a post though not as detailed as in Let’s Make The First Post.

Gambar-gambar di postingan kali ini semuanya dalam versi bahasa Inggris. Kalau di postingan sebelumnya Let’s Blog! – First Steps, Let’s Work on Blog Template dan Let’s Make The First Post saya taruh dua versi yaitu dalam bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Indonesia, demi kepraktisan dan supaya jangan kebanyakan gambar, dalam postingan ini yang ditampilkan cuma yang versi dalam bahasa Inggris. Kalau tidak terlalu mengerti bahasa Inggris, setelan bahasa bisa diubah ke bahasa Indonesia, petunjuknya ada di postingan Let’s Make The First Post.

The images in this post are all in English unlike in my previouse posts Let’s Blog! – First Steps, Let’s Work on Blog Template and Let’s Make The First Post where the images are in English and Indonesian version. For practical reason and not to have too many images I decided to put the English version images in this post. If your English is not too good, you can set your blogger in your own language. You can find how to do that in Let’s Make The First Post.

Sip, sekarang lihat gambar di atas itu, di bawah tulisan The Script of Rainbow ada tulisan berwarna biru Start blogging! Kemudian di dekat tombol gambar pensil berwarna oranye ada tombol dengan gambar kepala panah di atasnya yang kalau di klik akan memunculkan kolom ke bawah dengan sederet pilihan.

Good, now take a look at the above image, in the left there’s a button with New Blog printed on it.  Ok, under The Script of Rainbow there’s a writing Start blogging! written blue color. Next near the orange button with pencil drawn on it there’s an arrow button which when will show a box with many options in it when you click it.

Sudah ketemu ya dua tombol itu?

Found all those two?

Nah, keduanya punya fungsi yang sama; buat bikin postingan baru. Yang dimunculin juga akan sama seperti gambar di bawah ini;

The two of them have same function; to make a new post. Same image will appear on your screen.

Kalau tombol merah bertuliskan New Post di klik, akan muncul;

This will appear on screen after you click the red button with New Post written on it.

 Sekarang lihat ada tulisan Post berwarna merah di sebelah kiri atas? Disebelahnya ada kotak yang saya tulisi KATY PERRY “ROAR”.. itu adalah judul dari postingan saya.

Do you see a writing Post in red in the upper left? There’s a box which I wrote KATY PERRY “ROAR”.. that’s the title of my post.

Ditengah-tengah ada kolom besar yang berisi lirik lagu Katy Perry. Itu adalah isi postingan saya.

There’s a big column in the middle filled with Katy Perry’s song lyric. That’s the material of my post.

Berhubung cuma buat contoh, saya copas lirik lagu itu dari website orang. Sama sekali tidak saya rubah.

Since it’s just for sample, I copy pasted that song lyric from somebody’s website. I didn’t make any change to it.

Mau lihat tampilannya seperti apa? Di kanan atas ada tombol bertulis Publish, Save, Preview. Klik yang Preview dan bisa lihat deh kayak gimana tampilan postingan itu.

Want to see how it looks like? There are three buttons on the upper right side with Publish, Save, Preview written on them. Click Preview and there you can see how the post looks like.

Kalau semua sudah ok, tekan tombol Publish deh.

If everything looks ok, click Publish button.

Sip, sekarang tinggal kita permak dikit.

Awesome, now let’s polish it a little bit.

Lihat deretan pilihan di sebelah kiri itu? Klik Template.

See the options at the left? Click Template.

Pilih Customize.

Click on Customize.

Pilih Layout. Di bagian body layout ada beberapa pilihan susunan layout blog. Ada yang hanya terdiri dari dua kolom, atas dan bawah. Yang atas buat judul blog (contohnya The Script of Rainbow), yang bawah buat judul dan isi postingan. Ada yang punya tiga kolom. Nah, pilih sendiri deh mana yang pas sama selera atau kebutuhan kamu.

Click on Layout. There are some options on body layout. There’s one that has two columns, the upper column is for blog title (e.g. The script of Rainbow), below is for post title and its content. Other has three columns. Pick the one you like or need.

Sekarang mulai kita permak yang lainnya.

Now let's work on the others.

Ganti warna latar belakang dari coklat muda (lihat gambar preview) dirubah jadi merah muda.
Change background color from light brown (see preview image) into pink.
Advanced-Background-choose the colors/pilih warna

Warna huruf nama penulis blog, view my complete profile, tahun, bulan & judul postingan juga bisa dirubah. Tadinya hitam, saya rubah jadi merah muda
Font color of blog writer, view my complete profile, year, month & post title can also be changed. It used to be black, I changed it into pink

Text dalam kotak-kotak yang disorot itu bisa dirubah huruf dan warnanya
The texts in the highlighted boxes can be changed their font type and color.
Alternate color untuk rubah warna tanda panah (dibawah Blog Archive)
Alternate color is to change the arrow color (see under Blog Archive)

Kasih garis pemisah & warnanya juga bisa dipilih
Give separator line & you can choose its color

Beres? Klik tombol Apply to Blog supaya semua pengaturan atau perubahan tadi bisa diaplikasikan ke blog kamu.

Done? Click Apply to Blog button so all the setting or change can be applied to your blog.

Untuk keluar dari menu ini tekan Back to Blogger.

To leave this menu click on Back to Blogger.

Selesailah untuk sesi ini. Maaf kalau semua tidak saya jelasin karena ini untuk bentuk yang sederhana. Kalau ingin tahu guna setiap fungsi dalam menu Advanced ini, beranilah mencoba, toh selama tombol Apply to Blog tidak ditekan semua karya eksperimen kamu tidak akan diaplikasikan ke blog kamu jadi tidak akan mempengaruhi settingan sebelumnya.

This is it for now. Sorry if I don't explain the whole stuff in this menu because it is just for a simple form. If you want to know every function in this Advanced menu, try it yourself, as long as you don't click the Apply to Blog button, all of your experiment won't be applied to your blog so it won't change the previous setting.
