Let's take a walk in Sempur field

Tanggal 1 Mei.

1st of May

Libur. Hari Buruh.

A day off. Labor day.

Ngapain dong?

What to do on that day?

Di rumah aja?

Staying home?

Enam hari seminggu kerja kayaknya sih memang enak kalau bisa seharian ngeram di rumah.

Spend six days a week at work, a day at home would be great.

Tapi..

However..

Jalan yuk, bu..

Let's take a walk, miss..

Sudah lama pengen pergi sama anak-anak les saya.

Have been wanting to go out with my tutoring kids.

Ok, kemana kita?

Ok, where to?

Lapangan Sempur

Sempur field.

Yes yes yes!

*  *  *  *  *

Kenapa, siapa dan bagaimana?

Why, who and how?

Sebelum mulai cerita berjalan pagi ria di Sempur, mari dijawab dulu tiga pertanyaan di atas.

Before starting this happy morning walk at Sempur story, let's first answer those three questions.

Because not everyone who came crossed my blog knows what and who I am so let's just give a brief picture..

Ok, pertanyaan pertama;

Ok, first question;

Kenapa saya jadi guru les?

Why do I become a tutor?

Karena saya perlu uang.

Because I need the money.

I am an office worker but I give all of my salary to my dad so he can arrange it to pay for our monthly neccessities, to pay the bills, for unexpected expenditure and the last is to go to the piggy bank.

Dengan kata lain, saya kerja sebulan tapi setelah gajian, saya langsung bokek. Haha.

In another word, I work for a month but after payday, I become moneyless. Haha.

So since I have given all my salary to papa, how can I get money for myself without have to dig into the cash at home?

Ngobyek jadi pilihan buat dapetin duit lagi.

Having side job becomes the option to get more money.

Tapi ngobyek apaan?

But what kind of side job could I get?

I'm not good at talking so I can't be a sales person.

I don't have a hot body and a face as beautiful as an angel so I won't be chosen as the stand girl.

Becoming a tutor is the only option. Fyi, almost all teacher in this country have side job as tutor because it is rare to get high salary from teaching.

And so, I have become a tutor since 2005.

Saya mengajar les apa saja? Cuma baca, tulis, berhitung dan bahasa Inggris.

What subject do I tutor? Just reading, writing, math and English.

Siapa yang jadi murid les saya?

Who are my tutoring students?

My tutoring students varied from 2005. From kindergarten children to high school student. I don't know how many kids I have tutored.

But in the past two years I tutor same kids.

And I have different relationship with them compare to the former ones.

Bedanya dimana?

What makes it different?

We went swimming last year and this year we had this morning walk in Sempur.

So that's the difference. I have never went out together with my former tutoring students.

Oh btw, murid les saya bukan cuma mereka saja tapi cuma dengan merekalah saya pergi bareng-bareng.

Oh by the way, they are not my only tutoring student but it is just with them I went hanging out.

Bagaimana rasanya jadi guru les?

How does it feel being a tutor?

It is definitely more relaxing to tutor than teaching in official school hour.

However one's teaching style at school is pretty much the same when that person tutors because it affects by his/her character and personality. The stiff one in school won't turn into a relaxed person. The comical character in school is definitely remains same after school hour.

Gimana rasanya jadi guru les? Seru. Capek. Memuaskan. Bikin pusing. Menantang.

How does it feel being a tutor? Exciting. Tiring. Satisfying. Headache. Challanging.

Since tutoring is meant to make a kid understands specific subject which has become his/her weak point it makes it easier for the tutor to set his/her focus. But that doesn't make it an easy task. If the kid cooperates then the tutoring will give good outcome for him/herself but if not.. hmm.. tutoring session will become a torture and tiring for both the kid and the tutor.

Bagaimana saya bisa mendapatkan murid les?

How do I get students to tutor?

Kebanyakan sih mantan murid-murid TK tempat saya mengajar. Kemudian adik-adik mereka. Teman-teman mereka.

Mostly are alumnae from the kindergarten where I teach. Later followed by their brothers/sisters. Their friends too.

Tetangga di sekitar rumah saya pun akhirnya mengikutsertakan anaknya jadi murid les saya.

My neighbors are also enroll their kids in my tutoring.

Saya hampir tidak pernah cuap-cuap soal saya mengajar les tapi tidak pernah kesulitan mendapatkan murid.

I rarely talk about me being a tutor but it's never hard to get students to tutor.

Bagaimana les ini menyelamatkan keuangan saya?

How does this tutoring financially save me?

Don't misunderstand, I do need the money and these talents God given in foreign language (English) and in teaching have become source of income but that doesn't turn me into a materialist.

I give considerably cheap tutoring fee. Some even have not got any raise from me in these nearly three years.

God always sends continuing blessings, it never stops. Need some proof? Well, few former students have returned to my tutoring just recently.

Saya bersyukur. Sangat bersyukur.

My tutoring income has nearly reached half of my office salary. I'm thankful. So thankful.

Ok, mari dilanjutkan cerita jalan pagi di lapangan Sempur.

Ok, let's continue the morning walk at Sempur field story.

Cuacanya cerah rah rah banget.

It was a very bright day.

Kalau di rumah biasanya jam segitu saya lagi sibuk sama cucian piring, nyapu, ngepel, bersihin kamar mandi, main dan ngurusin Billy Bella.

If I were home, I'd be busy with the dishes, sweeping, mopping, cleaning the bathroom, playing and taking care of Billy Bella.

But that morning I enjoyed the beautiful morning, the warm sunshine, heard birds cirping, seeing so many people there to jog, walk or just hanging out with friends, girl/boyfriend or family and heard people's footsteps when they ran or walk.

Termasuk mendengarkan celotehan empat kurcaci bawel ini. Hehe.

Including listening to these noisy four kiddos' chattering. Haha.

But while we walked around Sempur field, chatting and joking plus made a stop to take picture..

Emak-emaknya anteng ngetem di..

The moms quietly made a stop at..

Tukang makanan.

The food vendor.

"Capek, bu. Istirahat dulu. Tadi kita sudah lari tiga putaran sebelum ibu datang"

"Exhausted. Take a break. We have ran three laps before you came"

"Lapar bu" yang lain nyengir.

"Starving" other grinned.

"Ayo bu, makan dulu"

"Let's have something to eat, miss"

Walah. Hehe.

Oh man. Haha.

Saya masih kenyang banget sama sarapan dari rumah.

I have had breakfast at home and I was still very much full.

Jadi deh saya istirahat aja dulu sementara mereka sarapan kedua. Sambil icip-icip es kepal yang ternyata biasa aja rasanya.

So I just took a rest while they have second breakfast. Took a little tasting on the ice cream which turned out didn't taste out of the ordinary.

*  *  *  *  *

Habis makan dan istirahat..

After done with eating and resting..

"Lanjut?"

"Shall we go?"

Mau kemana dari sini? Dan setelah berunding sebentar..

Where should we go from here? And after a little while later..

Jalan terus ke: Tugu Kujang, landmark kota Bogor.

Walking destination: Tugu Kujang, Bogor's landmark.

Yuk kalau gitu..

Let's go..

Bye Sempur, for now..

I have always wanted to know the route from Sempur to Pajajaran road.. so, go straight to the right (see above photo).

Turn right, passing this skate boarding area.

Follow the path to the left, see above photo, and there is a stair.

There is a river and a bridge behind Sempur field. Wow. By the way, is the bridge already existed from the Dutch era?

There is a tunnel in the left side of the above photo.

The other side of the bridge
Yuk, maju jalan!

Ok, let's go forward!

Jalurnya enak. Adem. Banyak pohon.

It is a nice path. Shady. Lots of trees.

We barely notice there is a busy lane next to this walking-jog track.

Capek? Bisa berhenti sebentar dan duduk.

Exhausted? Just make a stop and take a sit.

Did we meet unique stuff along this track?

Well, there were dog owners who apparently made an appointment to meet there. The kids who were whining that they were tired quickly forgot their tiredness.. haha.. they enjoyed looking at those cute dogs.

Eh, ada yang lagi latihan tinju juga..

Wait, there were also a couple who were having boxing training..

Yang naik sepeda juga ada.

There were also cyclist.

Dan akhirnya sampailah kami di Tugu Kujang! Hore!

And finally we made it to Tugu Kujang! Yay!

Terus ngapain? Ya, balik lagi ke lapangan Sempur. Terus pulang deh.

What did we do then? Well, went back to Sempur field. Went home from there.

This is where we said goodbye
Capek tapi hari itu hepiiii banget...

Exhausted but boy how happy I was that day..
