On School Break

Libur sekolah telah tiba!

School break is here!

Ini satu dari sekian banyak hal yang saya sukai dari pekerjaan sebagai guru.

This is one of the many things I like being a school teacher.

Libur panjang itu diperlukan untuk memberikan tubuh dan pikiran kesempatan untuk istirahat.

Long vacation is needed to give the body and mind time to rest.

Mesin yang terbuat dari besi atau baja saja bisa ambrol kalau terus-terusan dipakai, apalagi otak-pikiran-mental dan badan manusia.

Even machine which made of steel or iron could have a break down if it is used nonstop, let alone human's brain-mind-mental and body.

So begitulah.. kita sering memanusiakan mesin dan memesinkan manusia.

Well, so it goes.. we oftenly humanizing machine and machinizing the human.

Libur sekolah buat saya sudah dimulai dari awal Juni ketika anak-anak les minta supaya les mulai lagi bulan Juli.

For me school break has begun in early June when my tutoring students asked to have their tutoring start again in July.

Yihaaaa!!

Yippeee!!

Lalu TK tempat saya mengajar tutup sehubungan libur sekolah dari tanggal 18 Juni sampai 17 Juli. Bulan Juni ini hanya sekali saja saya mengajar yaitu hari Selasa, 13 Juni.  

And the kindergarten where I teach close for school break from 18 June to 17 July. This June I only came once to teach 

Oiya untuk info aja nih, saya punya tiga pekerjaan; saya pegawai kantoran, saya guru les bahasa Inggris dan saya guru bahasa Inggris di TK. 

Oh by the way,I have three jobs; I am an office worker, an English tutor and an English teacher in kindergarten.

Nah, ngapain aja saya waktu libur sekolah?

So what do I do during school break?

Bersih-bersih

Cleaning time 

Perasaan rumah cuma satu tapi kok ya banyak banget yang harus dibersihin. Sampe tergempor-gempor rasanya. Gimana kalo punya rumah ada sepuluh ya?

Having only one house but there are so many things to clean. It feels like being knocked out. Geez, what would it be like if there were, say, owning ten houses?

Jajan-jajan

Snacking time

Di kompleks perumahan tempat saya tinggal ada satu lokasi yang dijadikan tempat orang berjualan dari mulai makanan, mainan sampai alas kaki.

In the housing complex where I live there is one spot which made as a place for people to sell from beverages, toys to footwear.

Kalau hari Minggu pagi rame banget.

It is so crowdy on Sunday morning.

Setiap sore selama sebulan puasa lokasi itu juga ramai. Saking ramainya sampai susah mau jalan karena jalanan di foto di atas ini penuh dengan motor, mobil, orang dan pedagang.

It is also crowded every afternoon during fasting month. It was so crowded it was difficult to walk because the road that shown in the above photo was full with motorcycles, cars, people and vendors.

Makanya selama sebulan itu saya lebih suka pulang lebih sore dari kantor karena kalau saya sampai di situ jam 5.30 - 6 sore, manusia dan kendaraan sudah jauh berkurang.

That's why I preferred to leave the office late during that fasting month because when I got there at 5.30 - 6 pm there were less people and vehicles.

Nah berhubung tidak ada jadwal les di sore hari, saya bisa ngeluyur nyari jajanan. 

So since I have no tutoring in the afternoon I can go there to get some snacks.

Lumayan.. murah meriah. Rata-rata di jual dengan harga lima ratus sampai seribu rupiah. Tapi kalau buat lauk lebih dari itu ya..

my dad having hard time choosing what to buy. So many snacks.. yum.. yum..

It is quite cheap. The average price ranged from five hundred to a thousand rupiah (less than a dollar, 1US$ = about Rp.13.400). It is more than five hundred or a thousand for side dish of course.

Nonton

Movie time

Merdeka! Sore bebas. Nonton yuks..

Free! Free in the afternoon. Let's watch some movie..

Nonton di rumah sama asyiknya dengan nonton di bioskop.

Watching movie at home is as fun as watching at the cinema.

Nonton ditemani cemilan.. hmm.. surga..

Watching movie and having some snacks.. hmm.. heaven..

Jalan Kaki

Walking time

Saya ini suka jalan kaki tapi kalau ada jadwal ngajar terpaksalah saya harus naik ojeg supaya bisa sampai lebih cepat di rumah atau di sekolah. 

I love walking but when I have teaching or tutoring schedule I have to take online ride so I can get home or get at school early.

Mau jalan kaki siang hari atau sore.. jalan kaki itu asyik lho. Yah, asal jangan pas hujan aja.. hehe..

It takes about 15 minutes walking from the housing complex entrance to my house

Whether it is at noon or in the evening.. walking is fun. Well, as long as it is not raining.. haha..

Sore tanpa jadwal les berarti bisa... bobo siang.

Durian

Mei-Juni ini musim durian rupanya. Beruntung betul saya.

It's durian season on this May-June. Lucky me.

Yang ukurannya kecil-kecil begini biasanya dibuat kinca.

The small ones usually is made into sort of syrup.

BPJS

Health Insurance

Mama meninggal 31 Desember 2016 dan kami belum melaporkannya ke kantor asuransi kesehatan, BPJS. So tagihan bulanannya jalan terus dong. Jadi kami harus melapor supaya dihentikan dan tagihan yang sudah dibayarkan dari Januari - Juni 2017 bisa di refund ke kami.

My mom passed away on 31 December 2016 and we haven't reported it to health insurance, BPJS. So they kept sending us the bills. We have to make a report so they won't send any bills and the ones we have paid from January - June 2017 can be refund to us.

Ngurusin begini ini hampir setengah hari. Untungnya semua lancar.

It took almost half day to take care of this. Glad everything went smoothly.

Seandainya mama masih ada..

I wish mama were still here..

Dulu kalau saya libur begini saya akan melewatkan waktu untuk bisa bersama dengan mama. Kami bisa mengobrol dan bercanda berlama-lama.

In the past during this school break I could spend some time with mama. We would talk and joke as long as we liked.

Dalam perjalanan pulang dari kantor BPJS, di angkot, penumpang di depan saya adalah seorang ibu dengan putrinya.

On the angkot I took home from BPJS office the passengers infront of me were a mother with her daughter.

Sepanjang jalan ibu itu menggenggam tangan putrinya persis seperti yang mama suka lakukan ke saya.

The mother held her daughter's hand all the way just like mama used to do to me.

Anak itu tidak menyadari betapa beruntungnya dia masih mempunyai ibu.

That daughter didn't realize how lucky she is to still have a mother.

Air mata saya mengalir tanpa terasa..

I couldn't help not to have tears flooded down my cheek..

Bersama denganmu..

To be with you..

Andre dan saya tidak kemana-mana liburan ini tapi kami berdua sama-sama tidak mempermasalahkannya. Asal bisa bersama dengan orang-orang tersayang.. itu lebih penting.

we both love this foodcourt. We would have ice cream, talk and enjoying the view. Happiness is simple.

Andre and I didn't go anywhere on this school break but we both didn't make it a big deal about it. Most important thing is to be with loved ones.

Hai, dokter

Hi, doctor

Hari Selasa, 6 Juni, gara-gara ada serat daging nyelip masuk ke celah antara dua gigi.. adoohhh!! Penderitaan cenat cenutnyaaaaa...

A tiny piece of meat stuck in between my tooth on Tuesday, 6 June.. oh man!! Talk about the pain..

Terpaksa harus ke dokter gigi. Tuhan amat sangat baik, untung kejadiannya pas di hari libur saya, kalau nggak, wah.. ntar kalau saya minta ijin sebentar ke dokter gigi.. bisa berkaok-kaok lagi itu burung-burung gagak di kantor.

Had no choice than to go to the dentist. God is so kind it happened on my day off because if not, man.. if I asked for permission to go to the dentist those ravens in the office would go cawed again.

Urusan perdokteran ternyata masih berlanjut. Tiga minggu kemudian saya mengantar papa ke RS Melania untuk cek pertama ke dokter mata karena mata papa ada katarak.

Well, this doctor thing continues. Three weeks later I accompanied papa to Melania hospital for his first check up for the cataract on his eyes.

Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri

Happy Eid al-Fitr

Yang lebaran siapa, yang makan ketupat duluan siapa.. hehe.. soalnya sudah tradisi tahunan beberapa hari sebelum lebaran papa pasti masak ketupat, sayur lodeh, semur dan sambal goreng ati. Jadi kita makan ketupatnya duluan deh.

Ketupat. Made from coconut leaf. Fill it with rice & steam it for about 2 hours

So it was their Eid al-Fitri day, it was us who had ketupat earlier than them.. lol.. well, papa cooked ketupat, lodeh soup, stew and spicy fried potato and liver few days before Eid al-Fitr, it's his annual thing so we have it earlier than the moslems.

Hal-hal sederhana terjadi selama libur sekolah ini. Hal-hal kecil yang membahagiakan hati dan yang mewarnai hidup. 

Simple things happened on this school break. Small things that brought happiness and put colors on life.
